Polishes can be applied to lacquered and oiled floors to give extra protection and every year or two oiled floors can have a coat of maintenance oil applied to rejuvenate the floor. If the worst thing happened and there was some serious damage occurred to the odd plank then this can be repaired or replaced easily without disturbing the rest of the floor. If the floor is maintained well, the typical surface finish will last decades before refinishing is needed. Remember to use maintenance oil on oiled floors to expand the life of your floor.
