Man made carpets are extremely popular in homes and businesses due to their colourful and stylish appearance. As well as offering a cost effective alternative when compared to wool, they are also stain resistant, hard wearing and fade resistant.
Saxony carpets (deep pile) are a comfortable and practical carpet for any room in the home as they are warm and soft underfoot. Made from manmade fibre, saxony carpets offer a luxurious look and are extremely durable.
Nylon is the strongest fibre of all the carpets. With its excellent resistance to abrasion, we'd normally see it used as part of the 20% of an 80/20 wool blend carpet or in some carpet tiles. It is easy to maintain and dye, while upholding its colour admirably. Nylon is durable, static free, maintains its fibre height and also resists soiling or staining.
Olefin (polypropylene) is the next-best seller after nylon, making up around 80% of commercial carpet installations. Olefin fibres are colourfast, strong and easy to clean (bleach can be used safely in some cases). At Coldbath Flooring we have a large selection of polypropylene carpets with deep luxurious pile.
Polyester has a luxurious feel, is durable against abrasions, resistant to water soluble stains and easy to clean. It does not, however, hold its fibre height under traffic and shifting weight as well as other carpet fibres.
Polyester/PET, or Polyethylene Terephthalate, carpet is available in many textures. It is stain resistant and non-allergenic. Some of these carpets are made from recycled plastic bottles, so it often works out quite inexpensive. They also benefit from being environmentally friendly.
Floor Depot can supply and fit a variety of manmade carpets to suit your budget and requirements.
